Laid Back Boaters
TP2 Aug 2002
Well, TP2 is in the record books...what a great time it was. Everybody that was there was great, a person couldn't have asked for a better group of people. The staff at Tower Park also could not have been better. They were all very cordial, helpful and very courteous. Rather than boring you with any more rhetoric on my part, here are some of the sights from TP2, Aug 23-25, 2002.

The Boats
Derk

Hi, my name is Derk DeVries, AKA "Diggler". I just moved to California about five months ago and didn't know anyone prior to this event. I had the most fortunate experience of finding the Banderlog website and the Hotboat website and hear about the Tower Park Run. Even though I didn't know anyone, I still went ahead and sent Cas money for a reservation. Well, the day came for me to show up at the run and I still didn't know anyone except for Craig, AKA "OldSquirt" whom had helped me get my engine ready for this event. I was very nervous and had butterflies in my stomach because I was going by myself and I was going to finally meet a lot of new people for the first time face to face. The most important thing for me, aside from seeing the great boats, was to actually make some friendly contacts with all the great people that I met. I knew I would be fine after I had a chance to meet everyone. Little did I know that every single person went out of their way to make this a successful weekend. I cannot thank Cas and MrsCas enough for giving a chance to help a new guy meet new friends and share war stories of what we went through to restore our vintage boats. Basically what I'm saying is,...thanks for letting me share in the "community"! Take care, and I'll be looking forward to the times that we get together whether as a group or as individuals for a long weekend.
The Pot Luck Dinner at set-up
I heard from a lot of people that the Pot Luck was one of their favorite parts of TP2. I too think it was one of the highlights as it enabled everyone to mingle and interact with people they may not have had a chance to. It also gave us a chance to get everyone together for the good ole "awards" ceremony afterwards. I guess nobody got any pictures of the awards but then, that might be a good thing.
